Practice for round three of the 2016 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship, the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship of New Jersey, begins on Friday morning at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s Roger Hayden leads the Superbike title chase by a single point, 76 to 75, over teammate Toni Elias, who is substituting for the injured Jake Lewis and already has three victories to his credit.

“We were solid here this weekend,” Hayden said following his third-place finish in Superbike race two at Road Atlanta. “It’s hard to be down after getting two podiums. We started out a little slow on Friday and finished strong today.

“I feel really good going into New Jersey. That track has been pretty good to me the last couple of years. We’re plugging away, and things are going to fall into place.”

Last September at NJMP, the Kentucky native was third and second, respectively, in the two Superbike races. Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Factory Racing’s Josh Hayes won both events by the slimmest of margins.
