SX: Highlights and Results from Anaheim 2
Supercross returned to Anaheim for the 3rd round of the 2017 season this past weekend, and Ryan Dungey’s win was overshadowed by a gnarly crash that left Ken Roczen injured and unable to continue.
Roczen entered the round as points leader and was picking his way through the pack as he got bounced going into a triple. The reigning Pro Motocross champ separated from his bike in mid-air, landing hard on the face of a small jump. The impact left him with a compound fracture to his left arm.
Dungey got off to a good start and enjoyed an uneventful Main Event victory, which thrust him into the championship lead. Jason Anderson was notably missing from the lineup — he was disqualified after throwing a punch at Vince Friese in the tunnel following their heat race. Marvin Musquin and Cole Seely took the 2nd and 3rd spots, while holeshot winner Cooper Webb finished 4th.
Justin Hill picked up his first win of the season, while Shane Mcelrath held onto his 250SX West points lead after finishing 3rd at A2. Aaron Plessinger finished 3rd.
