Sturgis Rally Doubleheader Returns to 2018 American Flat Track Schedule
Following the recent confirmation of the 2018 DAYTONA TT during Bike Week at DAYTONA, American Flat Track is pleased to announce the return of the Sturgis Rally doubleheader in 2018 with the Buffalo Chip TT returning on Sunday, August 5 and the Black Hills Half-Mile scheduled for Tuesday, August 7.
The Buffalo Chip TT presented by Indian Motorcycle debuted in 2017 and the inaugural event was a huge success. Fans packed the world-renowned amphitheater to witness America’s original extreme sport compete on a one-of-a-kind race track, essentially a road race course on dirt that provided constant on-track action.
“Motorcycle racing will never be the same after this year’s wildly successful American Flat Track race at the Buffalo Chip,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “If motorcycle lovers like high-octane TT racing with jumps, right-hands turns and intense competition followed by a world-class rock concert, this will be the place to be next year.”
After the fast and furious three-hour race program at the Buffalo Chip TT, the packed amphitheater rocked out to the sounds of Shinedown. The success of the first-year event underscored the importance of American Flat Track’s strategy of bringing the show to the people.
“American Flat Track at the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Rally was a glimpse into the future, where the best pro motorcycle racing in the U.S. can mingle with rock music and a large-scale motorcycle festival,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “We are delighted with the results from this inaugural year and we are already looking forward to doing it bigger and better in 2018!”
Giving race fans double the action during rally week, American Flat Track will return to Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, S.D. on Tuesday, August 7. The Black Hills Half-Mile is the yin to the Buffalo Chip TT’s yang. The prime, clay oval at Black Hills Speedway may sit in stark contrast to the radical track design of the Buffalo Chip TT, but the racing in Rapid City was incredible and gave fans two of the best main events of the season.
“You can’t ask for anything better than two American Flat Track events in three days during one of the most iconic motorcycle events in the world,” said Cameron Gray, COO of AFT Events, promoter of the Black Hills Half-Mile. “Fans can experience one of the most exciting events of the year on Sunday at the Buffalo Chip TT, followed by some of the most intense and wild racing on Tuesday at Black Hills Speedway. We can’t wait to put on two more amazing events for rally fans in 2018.”
Additional information about the Buffalo Chip TT and Black Hills Half-Mile, including the availability of tickets and additional entertainment elements, will be announced in the near future on American Flat Track’s website athttp://www.americanflattrack.com.
