Springfield Mile dates confirmed for the 2018 American Flat Track schedule
American Flat Track is pleased to announce a double dose of the Springfield Mile again in 2018, with the legendary event returning on its traditional dates during Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Catch twice the action both holiday weekends as the AFT Twins presented by Vance & Hines class battles on the Mile on Sunday (May 27 & September 2) while the AFT Singles class dukes it out on the Springfield TT (May 26) and Springfield Short Track (September 1).
The Springfield Mile has long been a bucket list event for flat track fans worldwide. Known for delivering photo finishes year after year, the beloved track has a history as rich as the sport itself.
“The Springfield Mile has iconic status within our sport,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “It features fast and close racing and often plays host to the most exciting finishes in the championship. We are delighted to renew its two holiday weekend dates for 2018.”
American Flat Track witnessed record attendance for the modern era during the 2017 season. Fans packed the grandstands at the Illinois State Fairgrounds to witness another display of thrilling racing on “The World’s Fastest Mile.”
“With the amazing racing that we had at Springfield this year, we are really excited to start planning for 2018,” said Dave Kiesow with Kiesow Racing, promoters of the Springfield Mile. “The TT, Short Track, and both miles make Springfield the place to be Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.”
Additional information about the Springfield Mile, including the availability of tickets and additional entertainment elements, will be announced in the near future on American Flat Track’s website at http://www.americanflattrack.com.
