I meant to write this and post it on oohh lets say February 2nd, but I might have forgot and may even have been busy. I don’t know but I do remember that this was sick as shit and that I should probably still post it even if it is almost May. – Tice

This past winter on January 31st on a small and freezing cold lake Wisconsin native Ryan Suchanek did the impossible and broke the Guiness World Record for fastest wheelie on ice.  Ryan held the record previously at 107 which was broken last winter with a 114.5 mph pass by a rider in Europe. Ryan came forth this summer and said he would go after the record one final time before hanging up his studded tires and moving on to his next record breaking adventure.

Those of you unfamiliar with Ice Wheelies, or for you southern folks, just Ice in general, riding a motorcycle on Ice is nothing like riding on pavement. It takes a whole new level of preparation and equipment. The bikes must be set up differently, tires are custom built, the riding gear is different. Everything is different except maybe the act of riding a motorcycle.

This year Ryan announced that it was going to be his last attempt at breaking the record. After four attempts Ryan felt as if it was time to move on and concentrate his energy on a different discipline.  Ryan didn’t disappoint as he piloted his ZX10R pass after pass on his mile long plowed track. This record was also a little different for Ryan, for the first time his record was to be an overall average over the course of 100 meters. The last couple of records were top speed based. Mid day Ryan came flying down the front straight with his wheel in the air and as he blew through the speed traps you could he and his Kawasaki were pushing the edge of the limit. That pass he averaged 117.5 miles per hour through the traps. He had accomplished what he had set out to do.

Oh and I almost forgot, yours truly was on hand to emcee the event and cheer Ryan on as he chased down the record.
