Ken Roczen to Serve as Honorary Race Official at this Sunday’s NASCAR Race in Phoenix

“I’m honored NASCAR and Phoenix International Raceway have given me this opportunity and I want to thank MX Sports for making this happen.”

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Today, MX Sports Pro Racing announced that 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross 450 Class Champion, Ken Roczen, will serve as an Honorary Race Official at this Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Can-Am 500 from Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. In this exclusive role, the newly signed Team Honda HRC rider will participate in a variety of festivities throughout race day.

Roczen was dominant throughout the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship this past summer, winning 20 of 24 motos and capturing nine overall victories to secure his second career title and the first for the RCH/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing effort. He failed to finish off a moto podium just once, and produced an incredible average finishing position of 1.25. After making the biggest move of the offseason and joining Team Honda just a few weeks ago, Roczen will now be on hand as the final-four drivers for the Chase for the Sprint Cup finale in Homestead, Florida, are locked in.

“I’ve been a huge fan of NASCAR since I came to the U.S. to compete full time. What these drivers are able to do inside the car, pushing as much as possible for 500 miles, is incredible. I have so much respect for their ability, and I know the feeling is mutual. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet several drivers over the past few years, so I’m honored NASCAR and Phoenix International Raceway have given me this opportunity and I want to thank MX Sports for making this happen.”

In addition to being the home of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, NBC Sports also holds exclusive rights to the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Roczen will make a special appearance on the NBC broadcast and will also be interviewed on the Motor Racing Network (MRN), NASCAR’s official radio partner. In addition to his broadcast opportunities, Roczen’s role as Honorary Race Official will also have him participate in the morning Driver’s Meeting, Pre-Race Ceremonies, and Driver Introductions.
