Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif. was host to the second round of the 2015 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.  The first motos aired live on MAVTV, and the second motos were broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network.  Promotocross.com has the races archived, so they can be viewed on demand free.

Justin Barcia led the 40-rider field at the start of moto one, with Phillip Nicoletti in tow.  Weston Peick was eighth on lap one.  Nicoletti passed Barcia to lead for about a lap before Barcia repassed his teammate.  Barcia was third, Nicoletti fourth, and Peick sixth on lap three.  All three of the AutoTrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha Team riders were precise over the 30 minute plus-two laps.  Barcia claimed his first moto podium of the 2015 season coming in second at the checkers, and Nicoletti earned his first ever moto podium with third place.  Peick had advanced to fifth.

Georgia Lindsey, the pit reporter congratulated Barcia on MAVTV.  “I got my whole AutoTrader.com Toyota Yamaha dialed in, I’m feeling good,” said Barcia.  “They stuck behind me through injuries, through pain, through suffering, through everything, can’t thank Monster Energy enough for backing me.  Track’s awesome and the fans are great.  I got a great start and I am looking forward to the second moto and nailing another good start out front,” added Barcia.

Lindsey then spoke with Nicoletti.  “I just put my head down, Justin Barcia is my new riding partner down at Club MX and I just pictured it like a day there.  I’m super excited to give back to all my supporters, Coy Gibbs, the whole AutoTrader Toyota N-FAB racing, St. Lawrence Radiology, Dr. Maresca (of St. Lawrence Radiology), they have been behind me for a lot of years of support.  And also Thomas Fichter of N-FAB, it’s great, it’s a surreal feeling and I’m going to come out in the second moto and give it my all again,” said an elated Nicoletti.

When the gate fell for moto two Barcia and Nicoletti were fourth and fifth and Peick was mid-pack in 14^th.  Before the conclusion of the opening lap Nicoletti crashed hard.  He gathered himself up and re-started in 39^th position.  On lap 10 Peick nearly flipped over the handle bars but made a miraculous save that had the crowd and broadcast crew buzzing.  Barcia was again consistent and claimed fourth at the finish to earn his first overall podium finish of the season with second for the day.  Peick had passed his way up to sixth, which gave him fifth overall, and Nicoletti managed to pass nearly half the field after his crash coming in 21^st in the moto and ninth overall.

Georgia Lindsey again congratulated Barcia, asking him in front of the NBC Sports Network audience what his aim was for the coming ten rounds.  “My aim is to be up here every week fighting for position.  My whole AutoTrader.com Toyota Yamaha team did a great job today, they have been behind me 100%.  My mechanic Ben has been killing it, and I can’t thank my mom and dad, Monster Energy, Arai, just everyone behind me, GT, Shimano, they are killing it, so thanks guys,” said Barcia.  Lindsey closed the interview saying that Barcia was “the beard to be feared.”

Round three of the 12-race series will be held at Thunder Valley Raceway in Lakewood, Colo. on May 30.  The first moto will air live starting at 3:00 p.m. (EST) on MAVTV, and the second moto will broadcast live beginning at 6:30 p.m. on The NBC Sports Network.
