Indianapolis JGRMX Supercross Race Report

Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. was host to round 11 of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship Series.  A large crowd of 60,491 enthusiastic fans were in attendance, and Fox Sports Two aired all of the action live to a worldwide audience.

Peick heat win on Fox Sports 2

Weston Peick, who continues to gain strength after being sidelined with injuries opened the night in a big way winning his first heat race of the season, earning an interview with the crowd and the Fox Sports Two television viewers.  Phillip Nicoletti transferred to the main event from semi one.  In the main event both Peick and Nicoletti started in the top-10 with Peick charging into third during the opening laps while Nicoletti settled into ninth.  Peick maintained third until the halfway point, when he relinquished the spot and moved into fourth.  Also at the hallway mark Nicoletti found himself outside of the top-10 for the first time during the race, ultimately finishing 13th.  Peick stayed in fourth to the checkers matching his career best finish back in Phoenix when he suffered a broken foot, and was again interviewed by the Fox Sports Two floor announcer, Jenny Taft.  Taft commented that it looks like Peick will be on the main event podium soon, to which Peick replied, “I’m super stoked, my fitness is coming back every weekend, I’m just building every weekend getting more comfortable and building my confidence more and more.  I would like to thank JGR, AutoTrader.com, Yamaha, Toyota, FLY, Pirelli, Wienerschnitzel, my trainer Buddy Antunez, the whole team is killing it and I’m super stoked.”

 

Round 12 of the 17-race series will be held at Ford Field in Detroit, Mich. on March 21.  Fox Sports One will broadcast the race live starting at 7:00 p.m. (EST).
