Galfer Indy MX Report

The penultimate round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Series got underway on Saturday, with the riders taking to a very soggy track in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Despite the conditions, the Indiana National was a great day for Galfer USA riders: Rockstar Energy Racing’s Ryan Sipes took a 450 moto podium and fourth overall, BTO Sports KTM’s Andrew Short earned yet another top five in 450, and Rockstar Energy’s Joey Savatgy had a season-best second in 250.

Galfer rider Ryan Sipes has been competing in GNCC racing this year, and while the series is on summer break Sipes is representing Rockstar Energy KTM in the 450 Motocross ranks. Following an 11th place overall at Unadilla, Sipes fought through the Indiana mud for a come-from-behind tenth place finish in the first moto. Riding the momentum of his late-race surge, Sipes put in an impressive second moto and grabbed a third place finish, good enough for fourth overall on the day on his No. 39 KTM 450 SX-F. Sipes will finish out the Motocross season with Rockstar Energy KTM before returning to GNCC competition in September.

Andrew Short’s fifth-place result was the third time he has finished in that spot this season. He rode his No. 29 BTO Sports KTM 450 SX-F to eighth in moto one, and remained near the front in moto two to take fourth.

JGRMX’s Josh Grant was back in action after missing two rounds due to injury. He jumped in like he had not missed any time, finishing eighth on the No. 33 Yamaha YZ450F after collecting 12th and fifth in the two motos.

Matt Goerke broke into the top ten for the first time in three races, finishing tenth on his No. 44 BTO Sports KTM 450 SX-F. Goerke was sixth in moto one and 11th in moto two.

Rockstar Energy Racing’s Joey Savatgy had an outstanding day in the 250 class. In addition to achieving his highest overall finish so far, he also earned his first moto podium of the season. Savatgy was fourth in moto one on his No. 43 KTM 250 SX-F, and he bettered that by finishing third in moto two. The top finishes gave Savatgy an overall finish of second.

After two disappointing rounds, Jason Anderson was finally in the top ten again on his No. 17 Rockstar Energy Racing KTM 250 SX-F. He was fifth and tenth in his motos, ending the day with ninth overall.
