BTO Sports Race Report – Short and Brayton Battle to Top Ten in Detroit

Team BTO Sports headed to the motor city of Detroit, MI for round twelve of the 2015 Monster Energy Supercross Series this past weekend inside Ford Field. Team rider Andrew Short lead the charge while teammate Justin Brayton returned to action Saturday night as both battled through for top ten finishes.

Andrew Short took to the unique and challenging track during afternoon qualifying to post the 13th fastest lap of the day. Short’s night would start off strong, as he grabbed a handful of throttle to take the holeshot during his heat race, holding on to finish 3rd and a spot in the main event. His starts were on point yet again, as in the main event Short would utilize all the power from his FMF Racing 4.1RCT exhaust system to grab another holeshot. Racing consistent up in the front pack, Short held on to finish 9th at the checkered flag. After 12 rounds, he continues to hold on to 9th place in championship points.

“Highlights of Detroit were my starts” said Short of his night. “I had a great start in the heat and the main event. Unfortunately in the main I made a poor move in turn two and got shuffled back to 7th right away. I struggled with my speed and endurance a bit and I have some areas that need improvement. We are looking ahead and ready for St. Louis next weekend.”

Justin Brayton made his return to racing this past weekend at Detroit and came in ready to race, posting the 14th fastest time during afternoon qualifying. He would come out strong in his heat race, using all the traction from his Pirelli Scorpion MX tires to finish 4th and a spot in the main event. In the main, Brayton would work his way from a mid-pack start, as his WP Factory Services suspension allowed him to attack the technical track to finish 10th at the checkered flag.

“My weekend was good” said Brayton of his night. “It was nice to get back in to the swing of things and I’m happy with a top ten. I need to continue to work on my fitness for 20 laps and we should be at the front. It feels good to be back on the bike and looking forward to a strong result in St. Louis.”
