Bryan Smith Outlasts Jared Mees to Take First Ever X Games Flat Track Race Win

Bryan Smith is a competitor in the purest sense of the word. He’ll do whatever it takes to win, and in a high stakes sport like Flat Track racing, that kind of attitude makes for one helluva show. Jared Mees might be the defending AMA Pro Flat Track title, but after Mees suffered a last-lap mechanical issue  it was Bryan Smith who nabbed the top spot and a place in the history books. Sammy Halbert took 2nd and Brad “The Bullet” Baker rounded out the podium, while Mees was relegated to 11th. Jared and his wife Nichole did however become the first married couple to compete against one another at the X Games, and Shayna and Cory Texter became the first brother-sister duo to face off in X Games battle.

If you haven’t done so yet, make sure you catch more of X Games Austin on ESPN, and check out Ronnie Renner taking the Step Up Gold Medal…again.
