Whelen named Official Warning Lights of American Flat Track
American Flat Track (AFT) and Whelen Engineering are proud to announce a multi-year agreement naming Whelen as the Official Warning Lights of American Flat Track. Starting with the season-opening DAYTONA TT, scheduled for March 16 at Daytona International Speedway, the company’s American-made products will provide cutting-edge safety and operational enhancements engineered specifically for the sport of Pro Flat Track.
Whelen Engineering is the leading manufacturer of lighting and warning systems for the automotive, aviation, industrial and public safety sectors. The Connecticut-based company is also the leading innovator in safety light systems for American motorsports, providing the caution lights used on the race track and pace cars at NASCAR events.
“We seek to align ourselves with brands that are passionate about motorsports,” said Michael Lock, CEO of American Flat Track. “Whelen’s long history of innovation and dedication to enhancing safety in motorsports made this relationship a natural fit. We are proud to welcome them to our family of partners and would like to thank them for their contribution to the sport.”
As part of the new agreement, Whelen will provide their industry-leading safety light technology for deployment at American Flat Track events and will develop a next generation start light to signal the beginning of each race. In addition, AFT’s safety and operational vehicles will be outfitted with the latest LED lighting technology from Whelen’s product lines, including the Vertex™ and ION™ Super-LED® Lights.
“Whelen Engineering Company makes the race track and the world a safer place,” said Phil Kurze, Vice President of Motorsports at Whelen Engineering Company Inc. “Our involvement with American Flat Track will provide us with the opportunity to promote our brand and integrate our products into this sport we all enjoy. All of our products are designed, manufactured and assembled in America, and our products will add even more excitement to the AFT season while providing the most efficient warning and operational control.”
As a show of appreciation, Whelen and American Flat Track will also offer special ticket discounts to local police and fire departments around each of the eight events promoted by AFT Events.
American Flat Track will kick off the 2017 season during Daytona’s Bike Week festivities on Thursday, March 16 with the all-new DAYTONA TT, built inside the tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway. The DAYTONA TT will mark the dawning of a new era for America’s most historic form of motorcycle racing, and the “World Center of Racing” will serve as the first battleground for the great American war between Harley-Davidson and Indian Motorcycles in 2017. Tickets for the DAYTONA TT are now on sale and can be purchased at www.daytonainternationalspeedway.com.
