2015 US WSBK Round Announced
It looks like the schedule for 2015’s WSBK season will once again include just a single round in the United States, held for the third time in a row at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on July 17-19. While fans on the West coast are surely excited to see the series return to Monterey, I have to wonder how long it will be before WSBK will follow MotoGP’s lead in dropping Laguna Seca in favor of Circuit of the Americas in Austin.
WSBK Press Release:
The eni FIM Superbike World Championship returns to the famed Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on California’s scenic Central Coast for a third consecutive year July 17-19, 2015, for its only U.S. appearance.
“We continue to be pleased with the growth of the fan base for the Series,” says Gill Campbell, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/general manager. “With the continuation of GEICO as main event sponsor, it seems clear that the U.S. motorcycle industry also sees this as an important event in which to reach out to their enthusiasts.”
Nearly 50,000 fans saw the exciting action over three days as the Superbike World Championship continues to gain greater recognition in the U.S. It’s no surprise being that California is home to the most important manufacturers. Visitors ride to Monterey, with most of tickets buyers coming from Southern California to enjoy the sights and sounds of world class motorcycle racing.
Tickets for the eni FIM Superbike World Championship, GEICO Motorcycle U.S.A. Round go on sale in December and will be available online at www.MazdaRaceway.com or by calling the ticket office at 800.327.7322 (from the U.S.A.).
